After talking to the designer Joe Ruggerio on the phone recently, I went to his Facebook page to take a look at a photo of some of his newest soft furnishings, which were introduced at the last furniture market in High Point, North Carolina. When I saw the bed hangings in this totally uplifting bedroom setting, they made me want to put a four-poster daybed like the ones you see on the beaches in the Caribbean on my terrace. Since the bed hangings are made from an indoor/outdoor fabric from Sunbrella, this fabric would be perfect for a project like that. The fabric won’t fade in the sun, but Joe told me it’s great to use indoors, too, especially if you have kids or pets, since it’s extra durable and resist stains, too.
The fabric is called Chevy II, shown here in the Marine color, and is available through Miles Talbot, which also produces a line of Joe’s furniture. You can get the bed hangings, as well as duvets, pillow shams, curtains and other bedding in the ensemble, custom made to your specifications at a reasonable price through a company called Casa Fiora. In addition to Joe’s fabrics, the company has introduced 30 new fabrics, including linens in a broad range of colors and new prints and wovens, as well as new product details, such as 3½” lead-edge banding for curtain panels, new top treatments and hardware. To find out more visit the Sunbrella, Miles Talbot or Casa Fiora Web sites.
