When my husband, Anil, told me he wanted to launch a new brand of eco-friendly cleaning products with his business partners, I was thrilled. Many consumer and industrial cleaning products are loaded with toxic chemicals that pollute our homes and our waterways. But the new Eco Clean line of household cleaners is not only free of toxic chemicals like phosphates, bleach and ammonia, it’s packaged in easy-on-the-eye recyclable PET bottles, too.
Made in Denmark from solutions derived from sustainably grown renewable sugar beets, the products in the line include bath, kitchen, glass and all-purpose cleaners as well as dish and hand washes. Developed by Danish scientist, Jens Erik Hansen, the cleaning products contain a natural amino acid derivative, which solubilizes dirt and keeps it suspended in the solution, enhancing their cleaning properties. The colorful liquids are also 100 percent biodegradable, safe to use around children and pets, and contain no parabens, which are preservatives commonly found in cosmetics and

shampoos that some health researchers say adversely affect hormones in the human body when absorbed through the skin.
Scented with essential oils of mint, lavender, orange, rosemary and other herbs and plants, the Eco Clean products smell great and at around $4.99 a bottle, they’re wallet-friendly, too. I’m so glad to be using these great cleaners, which are now available at Duane Reade stores or through Alice.com. And biased though I may be, I haven’t found an eco-friendly cleaning product I like better. To find out more about them, you can call 877-ECO-USA7.
I definitely want to try them out. I hope they don’t smell sweet and heavy. I need something light and fresh for my house.
